A Sugar Land woman says she was followed home and robbed at gunpoint last Friday night about 10 p.m. Police say if you think you are being followed call 911 and do not go home.
The woman, a resident of the Eldridge Lake subdivision, told officers she noticed a car following her from southwest Houston. When she got to her home in the 13100 block of Brookside Drive, three black males, displaying weapons, took her purse and cell phone. They fled the area and she was not injured, police said.
The men were in a newer model, red Chevrolet Cavalier and ranged in height between 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall. The trio was reportedly wearing black clothing. They apparently used black ski masks in an attempt to disguise their identity.
Police stress that if you feel you are being followed, day or night, to call 911 and do not go home. Going to a well lit area or finding a police department or fire station is preferable to returning home where you are more vulnerable.
If you believe you are being followed but are unsure, make three consecutive left hand or right hand turns. If the suspicious car follows the same course, and you have a cell phone, contact authorities immediately.
You must be able to give a good location as to where you are, so accurate addresses and locations is vital to police finding you.
If you have a cellular phone, call 9-1-1 and try to get a good description of the vehicle that is following you including the vehicle’s make, color and license plate number if possible.
Keep your doors locked and windows up and stay in a highly populated or high traffic area until help arrives.
Do not take any action that could put your safety at risk.
