The new Fort Bend County Tax Office facility, located at 1317 Eugene Heimann Circle in Richmond, sports a two-window drive through on the east side of the building. To utilize this convenient payment option, taxpayers must have their current tax statement and pay with cash, check, money order or credit card. Credit card transactions include a third-party vendor convenience fee. Debit cards are not accepted in the drive through at this time. You may also pay your taxes by credit card or e-check by visiting our web site at www.FortBendCountyGov.com. A convenience fee is charged by our third party vendor.
Because January 31 falls on a weekend, the 2009 Property tax payments must be postmarked by the United States Post Office or hand delivered to one of the tax offices on or before February 1, 2010 to avoid penalty and interest.
If you mail your payment these last few days of January or February 1, please go inside the post office and ask for the postmark date. If you deposit your payment in your mail box at home for postal carrier pick-up or use the outside mail box located in the Post Office parking lot you may not get that current day’s postmark and the payment may be shipped to another post office before it receives a postmark date.
The tax office will not honor a metered date. The envelope must have the official Post Office postmark date. Payments postmarked Feb 2, 2010 or after will be considered late and additional penalty and interest will be due. The tax office is required, by law, to charge penalty and interest. There is no recourse to avoid penalty and interest if it is late.
Fort Bend County Tax Offices are located in Richmond, Sugar Land, Missouri City and Needville. Please call 281-341-3710 for assistance with directions to one of these locations. On Monday, February 1, 2010, all offices will be open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
