Learning, eating, socializing and health screenings are on the agenda for Health Awareness Week hosted by the WCJC Senior Citizen Program from February 8-12. All programming and activities will be held in the LeDieu Center on the Wharton campus from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Health Awareness Week is designed for everyone from the community who is 60 years of age or older to encourage them to adopt healthy behaviors. Each weekday, a one-hour health presentation will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a 45-minute lunch. From 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. a variety of activities, games and health screenings, related to the day’s health presentation, are planned.

Among the afternoon activities are games on Monday, exercises on Wednesday and health screenings on Friday. Area healthcare professionals, WCJC healthcare students and the Wharton County Extension Office will lead the health presentations and afternoon activities.
Seniors who wish to eat lunch, but who are not enrolled in the WCJC Senior Nutrition Program, should call the WCJC Senior Citizen Program to reserve a meal at the cost of $3.25.
