The Alzheimer’s Association Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter expands services in Fort Bend County with the addition of Chloe Rushing, Fort Bend County Outreach Coordinator. According to Rushing, the Alzheimer’s Association offers community-based consultation, information and professional training, as well as education and support programs, to individuals with Alzheimer’s, their caregivers, and family members.
Nearly a half million Texans are expected to have Alzheimer’s by 2020.
The Alzheimer’s Association has been actively involved in Fort Bend County – offering a caregiver support group, local education programs, and a 24/7 information and referral helpline.
“Fort Bend County residents have helped to support local programs through their participation in the Fort Bend County Memory Walk” says Rushing. This annual event raises public awareness and critically needed funds for the fight against Alzheimer’s. In fall 2009, the Fort Bend walk raised over $71,000.
The community can learn more about available local services by contacting the Alzheimer’s Association helpline at 713.314.1313 or 800.272.3900 (24/7).
