The Richmond Police Department is asking the public for any information about a fatal hit and run accident last Saturday night in the 1600 block of Jackson Street, also known as US 90A.
Master Sergeant Lowell Neinast said the department is looking for the driver of what was described as a newer model, red Chevrolet, 4 door pick up truck. According to Neinast, the driver of that truck ran over a man in the 1600 block of Jackson nearly in front of Oak Bend Medical Center, just before 11:00 p.m. Saturday night.
When police arrived on the scene they found Bruce Jesus Nunez, 24, of Rosenberg, lying in the road on Jackson just east of the Collins Road intersection. Nunez was suffering from extensive injuries.
Nunez was transported to Oak Bend Emergency Room and then transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where he died from his injuries shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
Neinast said witnesses told police that Nunez got out of a white Chevrolet Tahoe at the intersection of Jackson and Collins and began walking toward Oak Bend Medical Center.
Neinast explained that the driver of the Chevrolet truck, that is believed to have hit Nunez, did not stop at the scene.
Police would like to speak with that driver to get more information regarding this case. If anyone has information relating to this incident they are asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 281-342-2849.
