Voting locations approved for May election

By Cheryl Skinner

The Fort Bend County Elections Division is gearing up for the May 10 city, school district, MUD and county elections. All systems are go and Fort Bend County Commissioners have given the nod for early voting locations in the county.

In addition to the contracted elections for the various governmental entities, Fort Bend County officials are seeking voter approval on a $74 million bond referendum that would allow the county to construct a judicial complex on Ransom Road across from the Fort Bend County jail. Proponents of the measure say a new facility will allow the county to put all of the courts under one roof, allow for ample parking and will provide increased security for deputies transporting inmates to and from court. The planned underground tunnel that will connect the court facility to the jail will also provide a more secure environment for visitors to the courts.
