Court approves alcohol variance for Katy restaurant near school

By Cheryl Skinner

Fort Bend County Commissioners approved a request granting a variance that will allow a Katy restaurant to serve alcohol near the school.

Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers said he was submitting the request and endorsing the action because he had received a letter from Katy Independent School District saying the district had no objections to the business serving alcohol.

The court then unanimously approved the agenda item, which will allow Mission Burritos to offer patrons alcoholic beverages at their Katy location.

In order for the business to attain an alcoholic beverage license court action was required.

The agenda called for a vote on a “Resolution and Order Granting a Variance to the Order Regulating the Distance between the Sale of Alcoholic Beverages and the Nearest Public Schools, Churches, and Public Hospitals, Day Care Centers and Child Care Facilities on behalf of Mission Burritos in Katy, Texas.”

Mission Burritos is located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.
