During the recent Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce 2008 Leadership trip to Washington, D.C., attendees met with Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson. When asked by Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce CEO Louis Gavin if she is going to return to Texas and run for governor, she said, “Looks like I’m headed that way.” Although it has been generally believed that she was going to run for Texas governor, this is as close as she has been to making a formal announcement. The Leadership group spent three days in Washington and visited with several Texas legislators then toured Washington sights. Every year the chamber takes its leadership class to Austin and Washington in order to acquaint them with the details of the governments which affect them.
