Monday morning, June 21, about 9:30 a.m., Sugar Land police responded to a suspicious person call in the Riverbend North subdivision in the area of North Medio River Circle. According to reports, a suspicious Hispanic male was walking down the street, looking into garages.
Even after a quick response, officers were unable to locate the suspicious subject. Then again, just minuets after 10 a.m., they were again sent to the same area. At last, an officer located the teen and questioned him in the 1600 block of S. Medio River Circle. Reportedly, the teen was not responding appropriately to the questions from the officer and when checked for weapons, he bolted down the street and into a backyard. A foot pursuit ensued and several backup units were deployed to the area.
The chase traversed through numerous yards, over fences, throughout the Riverbend neighborhood. As officers were checking backyards, the suspect could be seen hopping fences from one yard to the next.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., the suspect, a 17 year old Sugar Creek resident, was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention. The case remains under investigation.
