That’s a lot of money... Over $400,000 was seized last week after a routine traffic stop on U.S. 59. |
The Fort Bend Narcotics Task Force, in conjunction with Federal enforcement agents out of Houston, seize $410,641 of U.S. currency.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Terriann Carlson said, “On July 7, 2010 a tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on U.S. 59 through Fort Bend County.” Carlson said the truck made several erratic lane changes which prompted sheriff’s patrol sergeant David Clary to stop the vehicle on US 59 near FM 2218 for traffic violations.
After identifying the driver as the owner and operator of the tractor-trailer rig, Clary, according to Carlson, became suspicious and searched the tractor-trailer. “As a result of the search, two bundles of U.S currency were hidden inside the trailer,” said Carlson. A follow-up investigation ensued and 44 year old Jesus Trevino, Jr. of Houston was arrested and booked into the County Jail for Money Laundering, over $200,000.
Carlson said, “The tractor and trailer, as well as the currency, were seized under the Chapter 59 statue through the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office.”
Trevino’s bond was set at $100,000.
