Founders Bank and the Fort Bend Star are teaming up to support the children served by the Fort Bend County Women’s Shelter through a unique school supply drive.
At the second annual Shred Day, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fort Bend residents can have their unneeded documents disposed of safely with the donation of three or more unused school supply items.
Just bring old documents, bank and brokerage firm statements and other personal papers to Founders Bank (4690 Sweetwater Blvd. at Lexington in Sugar Land). The bank will have a professional document disposal company on site providing shredding services in exchange for a donation of school supplies.
The Fort Bend County Women’s Center needs backpacks, pencils, rulers, crayons and other supplies to ensure that the children it cares for have what they need for a successful school year.
Shred Day is also about raising awareness about the proper disposal of sensitive information, said Jim Sturgeon, Founders Bank CEO.
“Identity theft is a major issue,” he says. “One of the prime ways that criminals access personal information is through statements that are improperly discarded. I encourage everyone to bring their old documents to Shred Day and make a donation of new school supplies for the Fort Bend County Women’s Center.”
