A robbery suspect was arrested after Sugar Land police and sheriff’s deputies work together.
Saturday night, November 14, about 11:12 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to an aggravated robbery in the 15200 block of Newfield Bridge Lane in the Woodbridge subdivision which lies just north of the Sugar Land city limits in Fort Bend County.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Terriann Carlson said, as the 30 year old male victim pulled into his garage, he noticed a white Ford Explorer turned into a driveway several houses down. He reported that he thought it was odd as the car did not belong to those neighbors but went about his business.
“Shortly thereafter, Carlson said, “The victim was in his garage when two armed suspects approached him and demanded his wallet. The suspects fled the area in the white Ford Explorer with the victim’s wallet in hand.”
About 2 1/2 hours later, Sugar Land police were notified of a burglary in progress in the 2000 block of Cromwell in the Glen Laurel subdivision just about 2 miles south of the Woodbridge robbery. Sugar Land police were given a suspect vehicle description as the car left the home. This suspect vehicle description was remarkably like the one provided by the victim of the driveway robbery in Woodbridge. Officers from both agencies located and pursued the white Ford Explorer. Shortly after the chase began it ended with the driver hitting a curb and disabling the vehicle. All occupants fled the disabled car on foot.
According to authorities,he disabled Explorer was towed to the sheriff’s department for evidence processing. That segment of the investigation revealed the identify of one of the suspects through fingerprints. Larry Anthony Cheneau, 17, was arrested on a warrant on the afternoon of November 15.
He is being held on an aggravated robbery charge, with no bond.
