The Fort Bend County law enforcement community has lost a 41-year veteran. Robert Brown Jr., known to most as ‘Mr. Brown’, was a law enforcement veteran of two agencies of Fort Bend County.
He was born in Fulshear, Texas in January, 1934. ‘Mr. Brown’ served in the US Army as an MP from 1957 to 1959. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Fort Bend County. He worked for the Quanex corporation from 1962 to 1989. In 1968 ‘Mr. Brown’ began his law enforcement service as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. In January, 1989 he left his volunteer service with the sheriff’s office to become a full time deputy constable for then Precinct 1 Constable RL “Tiny” Gaston.
Current Precinct 1 Constable A.J. Dorr said Robert Brown was a kind and dedicated man who worked tirelessly for our community. In 1991 Robert Brown was the recipient of the 100 Club award for meritorious service in law enforcement. Brown served in the Precinct 1 constable’s office from January, 1989 until his death this past weekend. ‘Mr. Brown’ worked until just weeks ago when his cold was diagnosed as terminal cancer,” said Constable Dorr.
Robert Brown leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Australia “Judy” Brown, one brother and five sisters.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday from noon until 8 p.m. at Gooden Funeral Home located at 1716 Ave E in Rosenberg. Funeral services are Saturday, December 5, 2009 beginning at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Rosenberg with burial following at Greenlawn cemetery on BF Terry Boulevard in Rosenberg.
