Missouri City’s recent Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off 2016 event was a huge success.

Hosted by Missouri City Green, the Keep Texas Beautiful affiliate for the city and Missouri City Parks and Recreation, the event was part of the largest one-day cleanup event in the state of Texas.

About 200 volunteers of all ages removed trash from Missouri City’s parks and trails gathering 2,400 pounds of trash.

At the volunteer appreciation lunch, hosted by the local AARP chapter, awards were presented to Marshall High School for Largest Group in attendance and Most Spirited Volunteer, and the LDS service group won the award for the Most Unusual Item Found.

On June 11, Missouri City Green will offer a community wide shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon. To learn more, visit www.missouricitygreen.org or facebook/missouricitygreen.
