Kick Start Program to be held today May 9

Shown are some of the Kick Start Program from FBISD.

Monday, May 9, at 6:00 PM at the FBISD Administration building on 16431 Lexington, Sugar Land, approximately 500+ students and parents of the Kick Start Kids program will be assembled in a show of support the Kick Start Program in Fort Bend Independent School District.

The Kick Start program is a martial arts program in public schools started by Chuck Norris who heads a foundation that provides at least 50% of the funding for this athletic program that is designed to build strong moral character and keep kids out of gangs and off drugs.

Although Kick Start serves approximately 1,200 students in five middle schools in FBISD for a significantly lower cost than conventional athletic programs, the district is considering eliminating this program, the only co-ed athletic program in the district.

It is estimated that it will cost FBISD an additional  $98,000 to fill the instructional time and provide the necessary PE credits for the students currently served by the Kick Start program should it be eliminated.
