Volunteers needed by SIRE
SIRE, Houston’s Therapeutic Equestrian Centers, is looking for volunteers who like horses and want to make a difference in the lives of some very special riders. SIRE provides therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities to children and adults with disabilities at three locations in the greater Houston area: Hockley/Magnolia, Spring and Ft. Bend County at Sienna Stables.
Lauren Diggans, who volunteers at Sienna Stables several times a week says “Seeing the pure joy on the children’s faces and watching them strengthen their bodies has been an overwhelming experience. I would recommend it to everyone. The volunteers and people associated with SIRE are a wonderful group of people.”
New Volunteer Orientation for the Summer semester will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 6:00-8:00 pm with the Hands-On Training on Saturday, August 6, 8:00 am-1:00 pm at each SIRE location. SIRE volunteers should attend both the orientation and training and must be at least 14 years old. No previous horse experience is required. Please sign up at our web site www.SIRE-htec.org. Look under the Volunteer tab for this orientation and training session.
