Fort Bend ISD’s Chief Simpson Communications Officer to retire
Fort Bend ISD’s Chief Communications Officer, Mary Ann Simpson, is retiring after a 38-year career in public education. Simpson has overseen the Community Relations and Partnerships Department providing leadership, direction and the implementation of the school district’s communication programs.
She began her association with FBISD in 1995 as the Director of Community Relations, advanced to an Associate Superintendent for Community Relations and Partnerships, her current position under a different title. Before joining FBISD, Simpson served as the Public Information Officer for Region IV Education Service Center.
“Mary Ann has given her heart and soul to FBISD, bringing all her experiential knowledge and talent to maintaining high opinions about the quality of our education system,” said Superintendent Dr. Tim Jenney.
“Mary Ann Simpson’s retirement will be a loss to FBISD,” said school board president Susan Hohnbaum, who worked with her for almost four years extolling what she called Simpson’s strong sense of integrity and professionalism and thanking her on behalf of the board for her accomplishments and commitment to the school district.
Throughout her career Simpson, who earned numerous professional achievement awards, has been active chairing major project committees, participating on an executive board and as president of the TSPRA, the state’s public relations association.
She will be vacating her position with the school district on November 11.
