Pink Dragons in the waters of Sugar Land October 22 & 23
In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Texas Dragon Boat Association is focusing on Breast Cancer Survivors (BCS) teams at the 8th Annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta on Saturday & Sunday, October 22 & 23.
Dragon boat racing is the ultimate team-building activity for 25 team members. Three Breast Cancer Survivor teams along with 40 other corporate, youth, and community teams, will paddle in the water in Brooks Lake at Flour’s corporate campus in Sugar Land, Fort Bend County.
The original Houston-based Pink Phurree Dragon Boat team and the newest Breast Cancer Survivor team, All Hands Abreast, as well as our visiting Louisiana pink team, Cajun Invasion, will demonstrate their skill and that there is life after breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Please come out and cheer these teams on as well as BP, ExMar Offshore, BG, CGG Veritas, EagleBurgmann, Fluor Corporation, JP Morgan, MD Anderson Regional Core Center, Minute Maid, Schlumberger, Southern Union, United Airlines and so many more of the 45 teams as they paddle to the finish line.
The event has come to be known as one of the largest multicultural and team-building activities in Fort Bend bringing over 5,000 visitors who want to see the action both on and off the water. In addition to exciting dragon boat races, we will have diverse arts-and-crafts, kid zone, Asian cuisine and cultural performances. Admission and parking are free.
