Foster’s Addison Marshall a finalist for Rudy Award

Foster Head Football Coach Mark Wiatrek with Rudy Award Finalist Addison Marshall. Wiatrek nominated Addison for the award.

Foster High School senior Addison Marshall is among the 12 finalists for the 2011 High School Rudy Award. Marshall was featured along with the other 11 finalists in the December 11 edition of Parade Magazine.

The Rudy Awards celebrates inspirational young athletes who embody the values of character, courage, contribution and commitment through the sport of football. Recognizing and rewarding these outstanding players inspires other youth to pursue sports as a positive, action-oriented path to self-discipline, leadership, strong academic performance and a healthy lifestyle.

The Trusted Sports Foundation will award $25,000 in academic scholarships to the twelve finalists, who will also receive an autographed Rudy #45 jersey. A national selection committee, along with a fan vote, chooses the scholarship recipients and final Rudy Award Winner. The nation’s most inspirational player will receive a $7,500 scholarship.

The selection committee includes Troy Aikman, Drew Bledsoe and Leigh Anne Tuohy, the real mom from “The Blind Side.”

The winner will be announced in January. Addison’s fans can vote for him at Click on “Finalists,” then scroll down to his name.
