Six Lamar CISD musicians named All-State

Six Lamar CISD students will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic and Convention in San Antonio after being named All-State.

Leading the way is Lamar Consolidated senior Chika Iguh, four-time member of an All-State Choir. He is a Tenor in the Mustang Choir. Since 1971, Lamar CISD students have been named to  All-State Band, Choirs or Jazz Ensembles 82 times. Chika is the only 4-time All-Stater in that group.

Terry High School senior Carolyn Castillo and Foster High senior Alayna Thomas are both three-time All-Staters. Both students are Sopranos.
Terry senior Eric Gonzales (Bass) and Lamar junior David Roorda (Bass) are first-time All-Staters.

All the students will sing with the All-State Mixed Choir at the TMEA Convention. Jack Vandiver directs the Lamar Choir Program, Rhonda Klutts is the Choir Director at Terry and Billy Craven is the Choir Director at Foster.

George Ranch High School junior Elyse Lasker is a first-time member of the All-State Band. She will play the oboe with the All-State Band in San Antonio. Daren Jordan is the Director of the George Ranch High School Band.

The Hubenak Husky Choir will also perform at TMEA, one of only six elementary choirs in the entire state chosen for the honor.
