“On February 22, the Stafford area’s second 40 Days for Life campaign begins,” said Marie McCoy, Executive Director of Christian Voices for Life of Fort Bend County, sponsor of the effort.  The campaign will feature prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a 40-day prayer vigil outside the Planned Parenthood clinic at 3727 Greenbriar Drive, Stafford.

“We believe 40 Days for Life has already made a difference in Fort Bend,” said Marie McCoy. “Last year, we watched one couple come into the parking lot, stay for several minutes, and later leave without going into any of the businesses.  We gave others referrals for post-abortion healing, and more than once passers-by stopped to thank us for being there, and to pray along with us.  Several people were surprised to learn that Planned Parenthood was providing chemical abortions in Stafford.”

40 Days for Life is an intensive pro-life initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and 40 days of grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods.

“40 Days for Life has generated proven lifesaving results since its beginning in 2004 in Bryan/College Station, Texas,” said David Bereit, national director of 40 Days for Life. “During eight previous coordinated campaigns, more than 430 communities have participated in this effort. More than 500,000 people – representing some 14,000 churches – have committed to pray and fast. And we know of at least 5,000 unborn children whose lives were spared from abortion during 40 Days for Life campaigns.”

“Our 40 Days for Life campaign will kickoff with a rally on Sunday, Feb 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Oyster Creek Park in Sugar Land,” said Marie McCoy.  “It will be a bi-lingual event in English and Spanish, with opportunity to learn about 40 Days for Life and sign up to participate.”
