The Quiz Bowl team from Ridge Point High School was named winner of Fort Bend ISD’s 2012 Quiz Bowl Competition after earning the highest score among the 11 competing high school teams. The Ridge Point team (including members Duff Dean, Christopher Hamborsky, Kristen Mynes and Alexandra Ward) competed against the Marshall High School team in the final round of the competition and earned an overall score of 230 points over Marshall’s 70.

Hosted by the Fort Bend ISD District Student Advisory Committee (DSAC), the competition gave teams the opportunity to test their knowledge of the 2012 Diversity Conference theme: “Peace, Love and Respect.” Teams matched their wits against their opponents by answering a series of questions relating to the categories of Character Crazy, Respect for Diversity, Love those Organizations, Give Peace a Chance, and Quotes, Notes, Etc.

James Patterson, Fort Bend County Commissioner, served as commentator of the event. Quiz Bowl judges included: Dr. Patsy Taylor, FBISD Board Member; Mike Jones, Non-Commissioned Army Reserves Officer and former Civilian Contractor with Operation Iraqi Freedom; and Mary Kiernan, FBISD Student Support Services Substance Abuse Counselor.
