FBISD Administrator hangs up on questioning parent
Thank you “Fort Bend Star” for enlightening our community of the events that are affecting us all. I have taken note of the articles and Letters to the Editor that have been recently published regarding Fort Bend School District. Here is my most recent brush with FBISD:
Demagogue leadership at FBISD seems to be filtering down the chain of command. I recently inquired with Michelle Amos, Program Coordinator of the Extended Day Program, regarding the selection of Dulles Elementary as the site for Extended Day during the Spring Break week. My concern is for the teachers and parents dropping off kids where construction continues to cause havoc with traffic on Dulles. But I was informed that even though the location could be changed, Dulles had already been chosen. As I expressed my disappointment with the lack of concern that Ms. Amos had for the constituents she and FBISD was serving, Ms. Amos hung up on me!
What I find most ironic about this lack of professionalism are the papers my children bring home each week from school about “Character Traits” – traits like Respect and Citizenship. I am very disheartened to think that leadership that hangs up the phone on a concerned parent is the person in charge of an important program for many FBISD schools.
Then again, look at the style that leadership has portrayed regarding the Global Science Center and now iPads. We would be much better off with leadership that is logical like Clements senior Steven Kung exhibits (who leads the group concerned about iPads), instead of the authoritarian style that Superintendent Jenny portends.
Side note: The only thing that keeps FBISD numbers looking good are the large percentage of Asian students. Take that away and what have you got? It has nothing to do with Jenny!
