Sugar Land spreads Earth Day Awareness

Zydeco, Motown, R&B and Blues will kickoff Sugar Land’s free concert series at Oyster Creek Park, Sunday, April 22, from 5-7 p.m.

An Earth Day celebration is planned as part of the event.  Enjoy eco-friendly displays and demonstrations, interactive games and educational booths from organizations such as Keep Sugar Land Beautiful, City of Sugar Land’s Storm Water Management Program, and Environmental and Parks Development.  Children’s activities will also include a caricature artist, clown performances, magic acts, tattoo spray station, a rock wall and fun entertainment by Ben the Recycle Man.

Donate any old and reused mobile phones at the City’s collection site.  Neither charger nor accessories are required when donating. Simply bring unwanted cell phones and drop them into the collection box. Before donating, be sure to delete any private and stored information such as contact lists, text messages and any incoming/outgoing numbers. If a SIM cards are included, remember to remove them from phones. Finally, confirm with service providers that your accounts have been canceled.  Collected cellular phones will then be sent to EcoPhones, a recycling fundraiser, and tested for any recyclable components or reuse.

Concerts are scheduled every Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Oyster Creek Park, 4033 Highway 6 South, with the exception of the final concert at Eldridge Park, 2511 Eldridge Road, on May 20.
