Literacy Council celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County is celebrating its 25-year anniversary on Sunday, April 29, with “A Culinary Evening,” a benefit event featuring PBS Chef and Host Christy Rost. Rost is also an author, cooking teacher, lifestyle authority, entertaining guru and home restoration expert.

Rost will be joined in leading the event by Brenda Bowman, Executive Director, The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County, along with board members, friends and supporters of the charity founded in 1987 to aid families crippled by illiteracy. The event is sponsored by Whole Foods Market. Lodge Manufacturing Cast Iron Cookware is also providing a special package of cookware to be auctioned at the event as a fundraiser for The Literacy Council.

Rost will present an entertaining program with her acclaimed wit, energy and inspiring style, along with a culinary demonstration as she prepares a delightful dinner menu for guests.

“A Culinary Evening” will begin at 5:30 p.m. on April 29, and will be hosted at Aliana Clubhouse, FM 1464 at West Belfort in Richmond.
