City of Missouri City Redistricting 2012-Public Hearing set for May 7
The City Council encourages participation in the redistricting process. A public hearing will be held on the City’s proposed redistricting plan.
According to the 2010 Census data, the City’s council member districts are not of sufficiently equal population and must be redrawn in order to comply with the “one-person, one-vote” principle established by the U.S. Constitution.
The Missouri City City Council is considering new boundaries for its council member districts and wants to hear from you. Tell them what you think about the preliminary councilmember district plan at the public hearing described below:
The public hearing on redistricting proposals will be held at Council Chambers, May 7, 5:30 p.m., 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City.
The preliminary plan for the council member districts will be available at the hearing and is also available for public inspection during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday from now until the date of the public hearing.
A copy of the plan is also available at: www.missouricitytx.gov/DocumentCenter/Home/View/1884.
Additionally, you need to be aware that the City Council has adopted Guidelines for public participation. The Guidelines, among other things, require that comments be submitted in writing even if you make them orally at the hearing; all written comments are due by the close of the hearing. The Guidelines may be found at http://www.missouricitytx.gov/DocumentCenter/Home/View/1882.
Any plans that are proposed must conform to the redistricting Criteria adopted by the City Council. The Criteria can be found at www.missouricitytx.gov/DocumentCenter/Home/View/1881.
