Deputy injured in off duty accident

Early Saturday afternoon as Deputy Kelvin Skinner was escorting a funeral procession on his motorcycle he was hit by a car.

At the time of the accident Skinner was in the intersection of Martin Luther King and Belfort in Houston. Bob Haenel, spokesman for Sheriff Milton Wright, said Skinner was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston suffering from a broken wrist, a fractured wrist, a broken leg as well as cuts, scrapes and bruises.

He was scheduled for surgery on Monday.

Skinner is a 9 year veteran of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department.
