Intro computer classes offered

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Adult Services staff at George Memorial Library, 1001 Golfview in Richmond, will present a variety of free, introductory computer classes this month. The classes will consist of a hands-on introduction to basic skills for people who would like to learn more about using these computer programs.

The “Mouse Practice for Scaredy Cats” class will take place on Wednesday, May 9, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. The “Computers 101” class will take place on Thursday, May 10, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. This class presents a basic introduction to using computers.

An “Intermediate Email” class will take place on Monday, May 14, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn more advanced skills for managing your email, including organizing email into folders and attaching files and photographs. Those attending should already have an email account set up.

The “MS Word Survival Basics” class for version 2007 will take place on Wednesday, May 16, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab.

The class “Computer Q&A: Frequently-Asked Questions” will take place on Tuesday, May 22, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Those attending this class may ask specific computer-related questions pertaining to the Microsoft Office Suite, the internet, and library databases and links.

The “MS PowerPoint Survival Basics” class for version 2007 will take place on Wednesday, May 23, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab.

The “Hands-On Internet” class will take place on Thursday, May 24, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab. Learn the basics of navigating the World Wide Web.

The classes are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Calendar,” select “George Memorial,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-341-2604, or by visiting the library.
