Stafford’s Education Foundation puts the fun in fundraising

During a time when resources and needs are polar opposites for many school districts, it’s imperative to have external help to explore and create educational opportunities. Founded in 2004, Stafford MSD’s Education Foundation is a group of educators, parents, and community members assisting in fund-raising efforts to bridge that gap. Last year, 15 grants and 15 scholarships, in the amount of $1,000 were awarded to Stafford teachers to support activities not covered by tax dollars and to students to use toward furthering their education.

On Sunday, May 9, BAPS Charities will hold a walk for Stafford students that will start and end at Sugar Land Town Center beginning at 9:00am. Over the past two years, BAPS charities have donated $10,000 to Stafford for scholarships and have committed to do the same again this year.

This past March, the Education Foundation hosted their 3rd annual golf tournament at Sienna Plantation Golf Course. Great prizes, food, and a sunny day were enjoyed by the 124 participants, which raised $24,000. Later this year, on November 17, the Hobble Gobble 5K Fun Run, the Foundation’s family-oriented event and largest fund-raiser are sure to be a hit.
