Mrs. Megan Wallace and Marisa Emilani.

The Lamar Consolidated High School speech and debate team hosted the fifth annual Mustang Middle School Festival on Saturday, April 28. This festival was an outstanding educational experience for all those who participate.

Schools such as Sartartia Middle School, James Bowie Middle School, and First Colony Middle School from FBISD participated. Sartartia Middle School was lucky enough to come home with one of the three major awards.

Marisa Emilani won the Best All-Around for the entire event. To be entered in this category a student must be entered in at least two acting and two speaking events. Emilani entered 15 events, bringing home excellent and superior ratings in every event.

Mrs. Megan Wallace, the theatre and speech teacher at SMS had this to say, “I am very proud of the ratings of all our students. Marisa went above and beyond for this competition—she entered 15 different events and spent a huge portion of her time outside class preparing. She deserves this award. I love it when students get to see hard work and dedication pay off!”
