Exchange Club of Fort Bend presents Youth of the Year Award

The Exchange Club of Fort Bend presented the Youth of the Year Award and a $500 scholarship to Weston Ruths on April 18. Weston was selected from a group of young men and women who have exhibited excellence in academics and leadership in Fort Bend County.

A senior from Austin High School, Weston is the son of Mark and Rosemary Ruths of Sugar Land. During his High School years he has been recognized with many awards in Math, Science, History, Geography, Choir and Karate. He is the President of the National Honor Society and participants in many other volunteer activities outside of school including Youth in Philanthropy and the Youth Advisory Board of Keep Sugar Land Beautiful.

Weston presented an outstanding essay themed “Brick by brick, row by row, I am helping my community grow. He explained how important it is to work together, “standing shoulder to shoulder” to make our community a better place and to support our fellow neighbors in times of need.

Members of The Exchange Club of Fort Bend sponsor a variety of activities throughout the year to improve the Fort Bend community in the areas of Youth, Community Service, Americanism and Child Abuse Prevention.
