Freedom Shrine dedication to be May 25

The Freedom Shrine at the new Fort Bend Justice Center, 1422 Eugene Heimann Circle, Richmond, will be dedicated May 25, 4:00 p.m., and the community is invited to share this moving and important ceremony.

“The Freedom Shrine will be dedicated to the memory of Mason Briscoe II, a long time county resident and community leader. The Freedom Shrine reminds Americans that the freedoms we enjoy today are a gift from the past and must be continuously guarded and protected,” said John Healey, district attorney, Fort Bend County.

The Freedom Shrine, a project of the National Exchange Club, is a collection of photographic reproductions of original documents from American history. The display includes the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and Dr. King’s “I Had a Dream” speech.

Mike Reichek, president, Exchange Club of Ft. Bend, said “ We hope that dedicating this Freedom Shrine will remind all citizens of the courage, dedication and sacrifice of their forefathers. In addition, we want to help young people learn how important it is to make certain that our precious freedom is preserved.”

The National Exchange Club has dedicated thousands of Freedom Shrines all over America, in schools, military installations, and government buildings since the program begun in 1949.

The Exchange Club of Fort Bend, in conjunction with Fort Bend Feed andFarm Supply, has made this event possible.
