How low can we go? asks reader
Dear Editor,
Recently, I turned into a local shopping center parking lot. As I turned in I noticed a sign that said something to the effect of turn here to end oppression and supporting impeachment of a certain high level office holder. Above this was a picture of this high level office holder with a Hitler style mustache.
I was disgusted-by the manipulation, by the negativity, by the unbridled slur, so much so, that I decided to do something about it. I stopped my car and carefully placed the signage face down on the ground. I was approached by a young man holding a similar placard. As I walked back to my car I told him, in my best ticked off, middle class, middle aged, southern lady voice, it was stupid and ugly. I wish I could have thought of something more eloquent.
After I got in my car I noticed he was taking a picture of my license plate. I gave him a thumbs up- (yes it was really a thumbs up, not the other!
I really do not care who’s picture was on the poster- it could be anyone running for office, it is not how I want the politics of my city to be perceived.
As far as who I will vote for in the Fall, if I was “on the fence” before I have definitely made my mind up.
Just sign me mad as h*** and I’m not going to take it any more.
