Shape Up Sugar Land names Bennett as new Executive Director
Shape Up Sugar Land (SUSL) is honored to welcome Dwayne Bennett to the team as the organization’s new Executive Director.
Dwayne is a graduate from Texas Southern University in Houston, with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Sociology. His background includes public relations, fundraising, strategic planning, grant acquisition, financial management, board development and special events.
Michele Barnes, Search Committee member for SUSL says, “We had many applicants and when we first rated their resumes through our scoring system, Dwayne’s high score set him apart from the other candidates. We were very impressed with his verbal interview responses; he proposed some well thought-out and creative programs for SUSL that included grant funding consideration.”
Dwayne has previously worked with United Way, Boy and Girls Club of Victoria, TX, Houston Read Commission and the Greater East End Management District. On a personal note, Dwayne is a family man who enjoys the outdoors and is vested in the mission of health and wellness.
“We hope that the Fort Bend community will join us in welcoming Dwayne Bennett as he joins Shape Up Sugar Land in our mission to connect the community, raise awareness and encourage activities that foster a healthy lifestyle”, said Barnes.
