Fort Bend Junior Service League donates $87,000
The Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL), along with Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital, presented the “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” Charity Ball and Casino on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square. The event raised $87,000 while guests enjoyed a fabulous evening of casino games, a seated dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions.
This year’s Charity Ball co-chairs, Mandy Boudreaux, Debbie Buckner, Jessica DeMarr and Audra O’Neal, along with the Charity Ball committee, are grateful for the support of sponshorships.
Ten percent of the event proceeds will be donated to the FBJSL Community Assistance Fund (CAF), while the remaining $78,300 will be donated to the Ball’s primary beneficiary, Lunches of Love.
Lunches of Love is committed to helping end childhood hunger in Rosenberg and Richmond. The program provides a free nutritious sack lunch to children in need Monday through Friday during extended school holidays, including Christmas break, spring break and summer.
Lunches of Love currently feeds more than 1,400 children and their siblings, and their weekend edition during the school year serves 300 of the neediest children among five elementary schools in Lamar CISD. Funds from the Charity Ball will be used to support and further expand their programs.
Be sure to save the date for the 2013 FBJSL Charity Ball, to be held on March 2, 2013 at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square.
