The Richmond Farmer’s Market opened a few minutes before 3:30 p.m. to a wave of eager shoppers exploring the booths offering fresh, locally grown produce, and by 3:40, many vendors had sold out.

“The area residents had been waiting for a local farmer’s market, waiting for fresh produce, and today they found it. We will absolutely come back,” said Kevin Eger, vendor, Richmond’s Farmer’s Market.

Produce offered included green beans, squash, potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, local honey, a variety of peppers, herbs, egg plants, onions, kale, beet bulbs, Swiss chard, kale, and more.

“One vendor had 50 pounds of fresh tomatoes and sold out in five minutes or so and it was the same for the farmer with fresh eggs,” said Anne Ondrusek, chair, Farmer’s Market Committee, Richmond.

By 4:00, visitors had little to choose from, yet, they all walked away with something to fill their plates and all said they would return.

The Richmond’s Farmer’s Market Committee, was thrilled with the response the grand opening received, and they look forward to the weekly produce farmer’s will continue to offer the community. Plus, the Market is expected to continue to grow.

The Richmond Farmer’s Market is opened every Wednesday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Friday afternoons 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
