Travis Tigers Golf Team earns 3rd place at state tournament

The Travis High School boys golf team placed third at the UIL State Golf Tournament held in Austin earlier this month.

Led by Coach Michael Pike, the team came back from a fifth place finish after day one of tournament play to capture the third place state title. Members of the THS golf team are: Ryan Bell, Michael Bertness, John Brock, Buddy Hallman and Ben Steinle.

They shot a combined score of 294 on day one in the tournament and a 293 on the second day.

Coach Pike remarked that the boys’ maturity and perseverance allowed them to stay focused on their goals.

In the individual standings, Ryan Bell finished seventh overall and Ben Steinle finished tenth. Congratulations to the entire boys golf team for a remarkable season.
