Mustang junior Heugel claims 4A Crown for Informative Speaking

Lamar Consolidated High junior Drew Heugel is the 2012 UIL State 4A Champion in Informative Speaking. Heugel earned the crown May 22 at UIL competition at the University of Texas in Austin. His speech on international economics wowed the judges.

“One of the judges at our district meet in March gave the feedback that (Heugel) was one of the best speakers he had seen in years,” Lamar speech and debate coach Stacy Thomas said.

Heugel had 30 minutes to prepare for a seven-minute informative speech on a topic, selected at random, about politics and economic issues.
