Study to create vision building on rich history, growing cultural opportunities

A cultural arts open house for the public will be held July 18, from 6:30-8 p.m., at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land, 13016 University Blvd.

Public participation is an important part of Sugar Land’s goal to create a cultural arts vision that builds on the City’s rich history and growing cultural venues.

Preliminary findings of the City’s current cultural arts study will be shared during the open house, and residents will be encouraged to provide their opinions about Sugar Land’s needs, community identity and cultural assets.

The study is expected to result in a Cultural Arts Strategic Plan to serve as a roadmap for future arts and cultural opportunities to further enhance Sugar Land’s position as a regional leader and destination city.

Following the open house, Sugar Land will continue to seek feedback through online surveys and additional open house workshops that will continue to impact the development of a plan.

“In order for the Cultural Arts Strategic Plan to truly capture the community’s essence, participation from residents is crucial,” said City Manager Allen Bogard. “To lend credibility to this very important process, we’ve engaged a cultural planning firm with global expertise to guide the development of our Cultural Arts Strategic Plan.”
