Mayor Vincent M. Morales, Jr. discusses vision for Rosenberg

Delivers State of the City Address to crowd of 400

A crowd of over 400 enjoyed the Central Fort Bend Chamber Alliance and Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce co-hosted “State of the City” luncheon on Monday, July 9 at Safari Texas.

The luncheon, featuring an address by Rosenberg Mayor, Vincent M. Morales Jr., opened with an invocation by Rev. Deborah Pirhoda of Rosenberg’s First Assembly of God Church. The Rosenberg Police Department Color Guard posted the colors, while Ryan Ballard and Brooks Green, members of Boy Scouts Troop 1880, led the Pledge of Allegiance. Edward Crowell III, Executive Director of Imperial Arts, performed the National Anthem. The Marvin Gaspard Trio provided musical entertainment courtesy of Imperial Arts of Rosenberg.

Mayor Morales, who was elected in May 2011, presented a detailed overview of Rosenberg’s current growth and future development potential, highlighting the community’s unique position as the “Hub of the Gulf Coast.” The Mayor cited Rosenberg’s geographic location, at the intersection of several major transportation nodes in the greater Houston-area, including highway and rail, coupled with the availability of large tracts of developable land, as a driver of continued development.

Mayor Morales also touched on exciting developments in store for Historic Downtown Rosenberg including recent application for designation as a Texas Cultural District, upcoming renovation of the Cole Theater, and opening of a Arts Center; along with projects aimed at revitalizing the City’s Highway 90A corridor; and ongoing infrastructure and public safety improvements including expansion of the city’s animal shelter, and construction of a new fire station. Morales highlighted Rosenberg’s great quality of life, including a low crime rate, a steady, diversified economy, and great recreation opportunities, and concluded by emphasizing his vision for a prosperous, invigorated Rosenberg through the creation of jobs, the addition of new residents, and the continued provision of quality services.
