Missouri City’s Ed celebrates birthday

(l-r) Loveless Mitchell, Floyd Emery and his wife, Margaret Garner, Ed Sziy, Iris and Jim Young celebrate “the big one” in honor of Ed’s birthday right in front of his pharmacy.
“Welcome to the Medicare Club” was written on a cake celebrating Ed Sziy’s significant birthday. Community residents came out to Ed’s Pharmacy in Missouri City to celebrate the local pharmacist’s birthday. Ed doesn’t need a last name in Fort Bend County if it’s paired with Pharmacy. He’s highly regarded by so many in the community who came out to celebrate during the lunch hour recently at his place of business. Margaret Garner, organizer of the event who’s done this for the second year, along with other local notables including Jim and Iris Young, were on hand with many well wishers, including members of Missouri City’s public safety sector.
There were also two proclamations presented that came from Senator Rodney Ellis’ office and the city on behalf of Mayor Allen Owen. “Ed,” says Garner who’s lived in Missouri City for over 30 years, “does so much for seniors, he personally delivers prescriptions,” and takes time to visit to make sure all is well, she said of his kind, personal touch. Ed operates an independent, locally owned company and has been in Missouri City for over 30 years. His last name is Sziy pronounced “Ed’s Pharmancy.” Happy Birthday, Ed
