Missouri City bridge construction brings improvements

One of Missouri City’s bridges is being rebuilt, another is getting renovated and after the work is finished both will enhance Missouri City’s recreational opportunities.

The aging El Dorado Bridge on the Quail Valley Golf Course is being replaced with a new bridge. Construction will take eight months and a temporary golf cart bridge will be installed to maintain a travel path across the channel for players. After the new bridge is completed, the temporary structure will be moved and installed between holes 1 and 2 on the El Dorado golf course. The new bridge will feature planter boxes, decorative lighting and pavers, providing a smooth golf cart ride for putters and a scenic walkway for residents and visitors.

A few miles away, contractors are preparing to install a hike/bike trail under the Cartwright Bridge at Oyster Creek to connect Phase 1 of Oyster Creek trail to Phase 2. The enhancement will provide a direct link for citizens and visitors exercising and enjoying the natural scenery of the area.

City Council awarded a $1.75 million contract to Tropical Contracting, LLC, for the infrastructure projects, which will not only enhance mobility but further beautify surrounding communities. The upgrades are being funded with METRO mobility and bond funds.
