Austin High School’s FFA students fare well at Summer competition
Sixteen Austin High School FFA students competed in the Austin and Travis Extravaganza 2012 and earned multiple awards in various divisions of competition.
The event was held July 20 at the Fort Bend County Fair Grounds as a fundraiser to support the FFA programs at Austin and Travis High Schools. The progress show also gave students who are raising animals the opportunity to showcase their livestock entries that are being developed for the Fort Bend County Fair.
Earning awards were:
Steer Competition:
• Emily Braly – 1st place, Major Steer Class; 5th place, American Class; Reserve Senior Showmanship
Goat Competition:
• Trystin Reed – 3rd place, Class Two
• Jenna Bothell – 4th place, Class Two
• Tyler Marshall – 4th place, Class Three; Grand Champion Senior Showmanship
• Lily Hernandez – 5th place, Class Three; Reserve Champion Senior Showmanship
• Summer Sullivan – 6th place, Class Two
• Tucker Kisel – 10th place, Class Two
• Taylor Hoelscher – Grand Champion Junior Showmanship
Lamb Competition:
• Emily Braly – 3rd place, Class One
• Ashley Bothell – 9th place, Class One
Pig Competition:
• Taylor Hoelscher – 1st place, OPB Class
• Lily Hernandez – 2nd place, Yorkshire Class; Reserve Senior Showmanship
• Ashley Adams – 3rd place, Cross Class One
• Abbey Sciba – 3rd place, Peewee Showmanship
• Tibor Kisel – 4th place, Hampshire Class One
• Gabriel Heppner – 4th place, Duroc Class
• Ethan Sciba – 6th place, Hampshire Class One
• Heather Warren – 6th place, Yorkshire Class
• Austin Sciba – Cross Class One
