Two from Sugar Land played in the Junior Olympic Games

Houston hosted the 2012 AAU Junior Olympic Games July 24- August 4, and two Sugar Land residents, 12 year old Anushka Oak and 13 year old Anna Subonj participated.

The duo won gold in the Girls under 14 doubles and Girls under 14 team. Anushka Oak won gold in the Girls under 14 singles and Anna Subonj a Bronze.  They also won their respective divisions.

Anushka was also awarded the Joel Ferrell memorial award for outstanding performance, the most prestigious award in the AAU games for each sport.

Anushka is a student of The Honor Roll School and Anna Subonj will be attending Dulles High School.  Both of them play at the Houston Table Tennis Association.
