Teamwork … cops helping cops to nab burglars

By LeaAnne Klentzman

Teamwork is being heralded for the reason three Houston men were busted for a residential burglary in Pecan Grove.

Wednesday, August 8, 2012, just shortly after noon, a man called 911 to report strangers going into his neighbor’s backyard in the 1900 block of Old Prairie Court in Pecan Grove. That witness then saw the men come back out and get into a car.

Concerned, the witness recorded the license plate on the suspicious car and gave it to 911 operators. The call went out over the radio and the hunt was on.

Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Haenel said a Precinct 3 Deputy Constable spotted the suspect vehicle and the suspects were eventually stopped on FM 359 near its intersection with U.S. 90A at the River’s Edge neighborhood.

He said two suspects, identified as Shannon Ward, 22, and Calvin Landor, 23, jumped out of the vehicle and ran, while Xavier Cain, 21, remained with the vehicle. All were arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation. Ward and Landor were also charged with evading arrest. Haenel said all three were from Houston.

Haenel also said, “The suspects had jewelry and currency valued at more than $1,700 in their possession.”

All three remain in the Fort Bend County jail.
