Quilt Show scheduled for Sept. 7

The featured quilt, “Ghosts in the Garden,” was created by Barbara Baxter and Carol Ann Barley. Karen Shively was the longarm quilter.

Coastal Prairie Quilt Guild presents its 2012 quilting and scrap booking show “Putting the Pieces Together” at the Stafford Centre, 105505 Cash Rd., Stafford, on Friday, September 7 from 10am-6pm, and on Saturday, September 8 from 10am-5pm.

Tickets are $8.00 for both days.

The show features 300+ stunning patchwork and appliqué quilts and scrapbook pages.  In addition, the guild will display more than 50 auction quilts.  Viewers can meet guest artist Irena Bluhm, who offers one-hour classes for $20 throughout the show.

A special exhibit includes Quilts of Valor, which are made by guild members and presented to returning service personnel.  Other exhibits include a collection of log cabin quilts and a Name That Tune challenge, where each quilt is an interpretation of a favorite tune.  Shoppers can enjoy the merchant’s mall with over 50 vendors participating.  Shoppers can bid on miniature quilts or purchase them outright.

Guests can enjoy the experience of joining the effort to make the longest zentangle.  Members will be available to demonstrate this emerging art form.  Interactive exhibits beckon viewer participation such as the tree decoration exchange.  Place an ornament on our tree and take one in its place.

Food and drinks are available for purchase at the show. There are hourly door prizes, and parking at the Stafford Centre is both free and convenient.
