Sheriff’s deputy busted for DUI by HPD

A Fort Bend County Deputy Sheriff was arrested and charged with DUI in Houston after a street altercation with Houston police last Thursday morning.
At about 2:30 on the morning of August 16, Fort Bend Deputy Sheriff Soraiya Ali, 25, was stopped by Houston police in the 3600 block of Westheimer near the Galleria. According to Houston police, Ali was driving erratically in her rental car on Westheimer Road.
During the ensuing traffic stop Ali refused to cooperate as well as refusing a breath test. Because Harris County operates under a No Refusal Policy, Ali was taken for a mandatory blood draw and arrested.
Ali is reportedly a deputy who has been in the Communications Division for well over a year. According to county records Soraiya Ali took the oath of Office to serve Fort Bend County as a Deputy Sheriff on November 14, 2011.
Her status with the Sheriff’s Office is unknown at press time although as soon as her arrest was made public she was put on administrative leave with pay. Unlike a Bailiff who is currently fighting the same charges, and who has remained at work, with pay, while his case weaves through the Fort Bend County Court at Law justice system.
And very much unlike Deputy Jimmy Du who was suspended without pay from February until his recent termination for sending out emails during the past election cycle.
