Fort Bend Theatre offering fall classes

Education Director Mandy Seymore is happy to announce Fort Bend Theatre’s new fall schedule. “We are excited to be offering a full range of classes, from one day workshops to musical theatre dance classes to Acting Academy courses to an ‘audition only’ troupe – there is something for everyone from ages 1-101,” states Ms. Seymore.

Saturday Classes will begin September 15th and run through November 3rd with a free performance on the last day of class. There are three age groups available: ages 5-6 will meet from 8:30-9:30am, tuition is $125; ages 7-9 will meet from 9:30-11:00am, tuition is $200; and ages 10-13 will meet from 11am-12:30pm, tuition is $200.

The Actors Academy is an acting intensive class available for the serious theatre student. Classes will run from September 18th-December 6th. There will be a parent “sharecase” on the last day of classes. Four different classes are available, and tuition for each class is only $200. Grades 1-2 will meet on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm. Grades 3-5 will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30pm. Grades 6-8 will meet on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Grades 9-12 will meet on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm.

The Action Reaction Troupe will present “John Lennon and Me”, which is a national award-winning play that celebrates love, friendship, humor, and imagination. It is an audition only troupe of actors (ages 8-18) which will meet on Saturdays to rehearse. $200 tuition is due after casting. Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 15th from 1-5pm. Rehearsals will be held on the Saturdays of September 22nd through to November 17th from 1-5pm. Performances will be held on November 17th and 18th at 3pm and 7pm.

Musical Theatre Dance will be meeting on Tuesdays starting September 18th-December 4th. Each week, students will learn new choreography from a different Broadway musical. For these classes, there are two different age groups available: ages 8-12 will meet at 5:30-6:30pm; and teen/adult classes will meet at 6:30-7:30. Tuition is $15/class or $140 total.

There is also a Homeschool Theatre available for homeschool students, and there are 4 different grade groups to choose from. Grades K-2 will meet on Tuesdays starting September 18th-December 4th at 1:30-2:30pm. Grades 3-5 will meet on Tuesdays starting September 18th-December 4th at 2:30-3:30pm. Grades 6-8 will meet on Thursdays starting September 20th-December 6th at 1:30-2:30pm. Grades 9-12 will meet on Thursdays starting September 20th-December 6th at 2:30-3:30pm.Tuition for all classes is $200.

Two great One Day Workshops will be available to students. Nail That Audition will be held on September 6th from 6-8:30pm. Students will learn what directors are looking for and how to make a lasting impression. All ages and parents are welcome. Tuition is $30. Project Costume will be held on December 1st from 9am-12pm. Think “Project Runway” for Costume Design with a theatrical catwalk show at noon. Ages 8-12 are welcome. Supplies included. Tuition is $30.

Not to forget our sweet babies and moms, there are two wonderful programs available in our Early Learning Program. Storybook Theatre is for ages 1-5 (with parent) on Tuesdays starting September 18th-December 4th from 9:00-9:50am. Each week, children will celebrate a different children’s book with acting, creative movement, and song. Tuition is $15/class or $140 total. Treasure Trunk Theatre is for ages 3-5 on Thursdays starting September 20th-December 6th at 9:00-9:50am. Each week, children will open the trunk to discover the ‘spark’ that ignites that day’s interactive adventure. Tuition is $15/class or $140 total.

To complete their well-rounded program, Private Voice Lessons will continue to be taught by some of Houston’s finest talents, for only $60 a lesson.

All classes require a $50 nonrefundable deposit, and must be paid in full a week before classes start.
