Fort Bend Y Operation Backpack a huge success

Shown are children picking up their backback supplies the YMCA’s Caring Community Center at Mustang Park.

The Fort Bend Family YMCA extends its gratitude to the many people in the community who donated backpacks, supplies or both so that we may assist families in our community.

All 3 local HEB stores offered packaged supplies for people to purchase and donate to Operation Backpack.  Partnering HEBs, HEB Sienna Market, HEB Sugar Land Market and HEB at Williams Trace all hosted boxes in their stores that were overflowing with donated items.

The Fort Bend Y was able to donate 215 backpacks and 715 packs of supplies to local children so that they may happily start the new school year with needed supplies.  Over 200 children at our Y Caring Community Centers received backpacks and supplies as well as children at our Stafford MSD After School program and other local families that registered to receive supplies.

To find out more about the Fort Bend Family YMCA or how you can volunteer or donate to the organization, call the Welcome Center at (281)499 -9622 or go to the website at www.ymcahouston.org/fort-bend-family
