Austin Angels honor new members and directors at Induction Ceremony
The Austin High School (AHS) Angels welcomed 15 rookie members to its team during their annual Induction Ceremony, held August 18. The team also welcomed Lilian Mason as their new director and Ashlee Williamson as assistant director.
Mason is an AHS graduate and former Angel officer. She has also performed as a member of the University of Houston’s Dance Ensemble. While at UH, her dancing and choreography were featured in the Emerging Choreographers Showcase, Canvas in Motion.
As a former Austin Angel, Mason can appreciate the value of being on the team. “The Austin Angels have taught me what it means to be a respectful, disciplined, goal-oriented, and compassionate dancer,” she said.
“This organization is one of merit and value that has a lasting impact on the lives of its members, not only in the dance studio, but in all aspects of life.”
Williamson, the team’s new assistant director, is a recent graduate of Point Park University and a 2003 graduate of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She has studied with many renowned choreographers and was cast in the off-Broadway production of Contact.
She began working with the Angels dance team in 2008 as a choreographer between contracts as an international singer and dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
She is looking forward to bringing her many talents to the Angels in her new role as assistant director.
